It is that time of year again. It is every immigration lawyer’s last line of advice for any person who is not one of the fortunate who for whatever reason cannot obtain the necessary sponsorship to achieve their “American Dream”. For any high school graduate, or certain workers, who are not from Jamaica, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Brazil, Canada, China (Mainland-born), Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, India, Mexico, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Poland, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Island), and Vietnam, you can register on-line up until November 3, 2010 for the Diversity Visa Lottery. 55,000 lucky winners are announced each fiscal year.
It is important to note that a “winner” may not necessarily receive a green card nor even have an interview if numbers run out before September 30th of that fiscal year. These "winners" merely have the right to apply for one of the 55,000 green cards. It is free to enter.
We recommend you do not enter through any website or apply through any service which makes any assurances about increasing your chances. These may be scams.
