Mr. Charles Oppenheim, Chief, Immigrant Visa and
Control Division, U.S. Department of State (DOS) has made the immigration community
aware that the cutoff date for the employment-based, second preference (EB2)
category for India and China is expected to advance to at least March 1, 2008
in the upcoming December 2011 Visa Bulletin. This is certainly welcome news to foreign
nationals from those countries that have been stuck with long-retrogressed
employment-based cases that has prevented them from completing the green card
application process. As Mr. Oppenheim is a main source in determining these
cut-off dates, this information should be considered highly reliable. Hopefully
more predictions will come from the DOS in future months and there will be
continued forward movement for these categories, as well as others, going
forward.
