Rutgers Student Awarded LexisNexis® Martindale-Hubbell® Scholarship For Work with Asian Immigrant Community in New Jersey

New Providence, N.J. - Press Release - October 28, 2005 - Alexander Saingchin, a student at the Rutgers School of Law, has been awarded the 2005 LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell Scholarship for his work creating the Asian American Legal Project, which has established multilingual clinics in Jersey City, N.J. The clinics assist low-income and disadvantaged Asian Americans in overcoming cultural and linguistic obstacles when accessing legal aid.

The $5,000 scholarship was handed out last night as part of the Equal Justice Works "Exemplary Public Service Awards" dinner. Equal Justice Works, founded in 1986 by law students dedicated to working for equal justice on behalf of underserved communities and causes, is the national leader in creating summer and postgraduate public interest opportunities for law students and lawyers as well as in urging more public interest programming at law schools.

The LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell Scholarship is funded by LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell, the leading provider of client development solutions for the legal profession, and is designed to financially support law students associated with Equal Justice Works who have done an exceptional job practicing public interest law.
