    Appointments:
    Please make an appointment using INFOPASS via the USCIS web page. Walk-ins are accepted between the hours of 8 AM - 2 PM M-TH, and 8 AM - 11 AM on F. However, it is recommended that an appointment is made because walk-ins may have to wait several hours.

    Accepted forms of payment:
    Certified check, money order, or personal check (which must be accompanied with a government issued picture ID).

    New Orleans District Office:

    • I-765: Must be filed with the office that the record is maintained. Processing times are between 30-90 days. Renewals must be processed 30 days before its expiration.
    • I-131: You must submit your application to:
        Application for Travel Document
        USCIS
        US Department of Homeland Security
        PO Box 805887
        Chicago, IL 60680-4120
      This information must be presented at least 30 days before intended travel.
    • If emergency travel authorization is needed, you must call the Information Officer at 1 800 375 5283 from 8 AM - 6 PM, M-F

    Local Procedure - USCIS Sub-Office(s)

    Louisville Sub Office:

    • MAIL form I-600A to this office
    • I-765: For extensions, you must file between 30-45 days before the expiration of the EAD. For first time applications, you must file at the office where your record is maintained.
    • All adoption forms (I-600 and I-600A) must be MAILED to the Boston District Office (as of 3/1/04)
    • I-131: You must submit your application to:
        Application for Travel Document
        USCIS
        US Department of Homeland Security
        PO Box 805887
        Chicago, IL 60680-4120
      UNLESS your file is at one of the Service Centers. File with the Service Center if your file is there. Submit at least 60 days in advance of travel.
    • I-131 (Travel Authorization): For emergency travel, you must apply in PERSON and bring documentary evidence of the emergency.

    Additional Information - Notes

    • Change of address for naturalization (N 400) may be completed over the phone (1-800-375-5283), everyone else must use the form and send it to the office where their application is pending.
    • Fingerprints notices are sent after you have applied. You will be notified as to which Application Support Center to go to and when.
    • Sub Offices generally are used for appointment purposes only, usually not to file applications, but check the specific application procedures.
